esde la edad de Bronce los guerreros llevan cascos. En la Edad Media su tamaño aumenta progresivamente para dar mayor protección al rostro y cuello. El modelo más grande y pesado es el Yelmo, enorme casco que forma parte de la Armadura.
Al final de la Edad Media tanto los Yelmos como los demás cascos podían estar abiertos o cerrados gracias a la adopción de piezas móviles.
